In my country, facebook is the new orkut. Accordingly, I need to shift focus from orkut bashing to facebook bashing. Recently, kalyan
was seen playing on FB with "relationship" settings and it yielded interesting results. So I want to try it myself and see what happens.
First off, there seems to be no option to hide your orientation. And onto the main topic of relationship status. FB offers 6 different states and an empty one. Choosing the empty option is supposed to be the equivalent of no comments
Here is the transition problem: Somebody thought that if you have selected option X
and then change it, it is perfectly legal to say
person no longer X
. The part that they missed out is that a transition to the no comments
state does not necessarily imply anything has actually changed i.e. it is a special state.
So if you were married to someone and had announced it on FB and then choose to cover it up, it would say that your marriage has gone kaput
! God bless the internets.
Update: I am not really itching to change "interested in" and see what happens. Not sure if I'll actually try it though.
Update #2: I actually did it. Click here to see results
